TechInAsia is holding Startup Asia Singapore 2014 on May 7 and 8 in Singapore this year. The two day startup conference will showcase newly launched and product-ready tech startups, a large line-up of interesting keynotes investor dating opportunities, as well as a Hackathon and a Startup Arena. As always networking with friends and competitors is all inclusive and so are the fresh insights into the South-East Asian Startup scene.
Startup Asia has gathered a lot of high end speakers, among them Singapore Minister of State Teo Ser Luck, Dave Morin (founder and CEO of Path), Min-Liang Tan (founder and CEO of Razer), and Razmig Hovaghimian (co-founder and CEO of ViKi). Notably, Startup Asia will feature keynotes and fireside chats on hardware startups and businesses as well as opportunities in Myanmar.
Apart from the “business as usual” conference track, Startup Asia will feature the Startup Arena, for which interested teams can currently apply. 10 startups compete in the Startup Arena to bring home a prize money of US$10,000. Startups will be judged by Paul Srivorakul (Ardent Capital), Peng T. Ong (Banean Holdings), Khailee Ng ( 500 Startups), Shirely Wong (Infocomm), Willson Cuaca (East Ventures), and Chris Evdemon (Innovation Works).
Those happy with US$1,000 can participate in the 2 full day Hackathon. 200 developers across Asia will build applications. Developers are free to choose their own platform and compete for three prices. More than eight challenges will be given to developers by local and international tech brands with attractive prizes including cash prizes, gadgets, internship opportunities, and potential investments. On the Demo Day one week after the hackathon serious developers can pitch their apps.
Startup Asia Singapore has also arranged a group of investors that will wait at an exclusive booth for startups that want to pitch their ideas. Startups are to queue at the investor booth for their turn to do a quick pitch to the investors up to 5 minutes.
